Disc Review and Reflection
I was able to go out disc golfing yesterday and enjoy some fresh air. The weather has been great lately and looks to be good the next couple weeks. I'm hoping to get out at least a couple times per week until it starts to get cold again.
Today while playing I was really thinking about some of the reviews I recently gave to the discs I own. I wondered if I was being accurate and so I decided to give a few discs a try to make sure I was still feeling the same way about them.
Maybe Mid-Rangers Aren't So Bad Afterall...
I tried using the Buzzz first and had a small revelation about mid-rangers, they might actually have a place after all. I found that actual accuracy for the Buzzz was quite a bit better than I first remember although it didn't soar like my fairway driver does.
I also played a hole using the Skeeter. This disc has quite a few knicks on it so I think it will always have a little trouble flying the way it was intended. I honestly can't recall using this so much that it should have as many cuts as it has.
Can Putters Still Work As Drivers After A Few Months Of Playing?
The short answer is yes; I tried playing my putters as drivers just for fun. I wanted to see if I would be to get them to go as far as my favorite disc, the River. I was surprised a bit that I was throwing the River only 25 or so feet further than I was able to throw the putter, the Lucid Judge. This really shows me I have a lot to learn about throwing technique. :(
Playing Around With Driving!
Lastly before I finish up here I tried changing my throw up as well. I am usually a very active player and I like the run-up drive. I know this adds a lot of unnecessary movement though. I tried standing still and focusing all of my movement on my upper body, keeping my feet mostly planted square. I found once again that I know very little at times about technique because I was throwing as far using this method as my run-up method.
I think going out next time I'm going to focus on my throws more and might even measure my distances to see where I stand and how I improve on my drives.
I took a lot of pictures while on the course and in the gallery are a few that I really liked and wanted to share.
